iPhone 7 Screen and Digitizer Replacement

Follow the phases within this guide to replace a faulty or cracked screen in an Apple iPhone 7. This guide includes removing the initial display assembly, as well removing the home/Touch ID sensor, earpiece speaker, front camera assembly, and LCD shield plate from the first display--all of which should be moved to your new display before installing it.

In case your replacement display already includes those parts, follow this guide instead.

In any event, it's important to cautiously transfer the first home/Touch ID sensor onto the new display in order for it to function. The good state home button has been paired to its initial logic board by Apple, so replacing it will render it unusable.

Opening the iPhone 7 may damage the water-proof seals on the display. In case you don't replace the adhesive seals, your phone will function normally, but will not be water-resistant.

Step 1 Pentalobe Screws

Before you begin, release your iPhone battery below 25%. A billed lithium-ion battery can catch fire or explode if accidentally punctured.

Power off your iPhone before beginning disassembly.

Opening the iPhone's display will damage its seals. In case you don't replace the seals, your phone will not be water resistant.

Remove the two 3.4 mm pentalobe screws on the bottom edge of the iPhone.

Step 2 Opening Procedure

Heating the lower edge of the iPhone will assist soften the adhesive securing the display, making it simpler to start.

Use a hairdryer or prepare a iOpener and apply it to the lower edge of the iPhone for about a moment in order to soften up the adhesive beneath.

Step 3

Attach a suction cup to the bottom 50% of the display assembly, only above the home button.

Be sure the suction cup doesn't overlap with the home button, as this can prevent a seal formation between the suction cup and front glass.

Step 4

Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap between the display assembly and the rear case.

Insert the flat end of a spudger into the gap.

The waterproof adhesive holding the display set up is strong, and producing this original gap takes a substantial amount of force. If you're having difficulty opening a gap, then stone the screen down and up to weaken the adhesive until you can match a spudger inside.
