Why should you go for factory restore?

If your software often poses problems for you and malfunctions, then factory restore is the only way for an iPhone fix. You will notice a drastic increase in speed after the reset. This is because the software will become brand new.

Here are some other reasons for restoring your phone to factory settings:

  • If you’re tired of your phone's slow performance, at times WhatsApp is the cause of it, and are looking for a way to increase your phone's speed instantly.

  • If you’re planning to buy the latest model and want to sell the old one. Moreover, you need to keep the personal information safe.

  • If you’re returning the device for service.

  • In this guide, we’ll share with you how to restore your phone to factory settings and then get all the important information restored via back up.

Backup Your Data before the Wipeout

When you restore your phone to factory settings, you essentially allow the device to lose all the data and settings. This means that after the process is completed, your music, contacts, apps, pictures, and videos will be deleted permanently from the phone.

To keep your entire data safe, you need to create a backup. You can back up your data to either iCloud or iTunes. Backup is always a good measure to take once in a while before your iPhone screen cracks or spoils.

    Create a Backup on iCloud

Here’s how to create a backup using iCloud. Go to settings, then to iCloud. Tap on the Backup button. Follow the instructions. The backup will be completed in a few moments.

If you already have a backup, then check when the last one was created. You can see the date and time of the last backup under the Back Up Now option.

    Create Backup on iTunes

To backup the data of your phone using iTunes, connect it to your PC or Mac using the charging cable. Then click on the phone icon in iTunes. Click the Back Up Now button and you’re good to go.

    Restore to Factory Settings

The restoring process can take up to an hour depending on the amount of data and the model. The device remains unresponsive and inoperable during the entire process.

After creating the backup, you can now safely run the restoring process.

  • Go to Settings

  • Go to General

  • Select Erase All Content and Settings

  • The device will ask you to enter the passcode if you have one. Next, you’ll get a warning message just to make sure you really want to do this. Tap on okay to initiate the process.

After the restore process has been completed, the device will search for the latest software and install it. Then, your phone will restart itself.

After you’re done with the factory restore, you can restore the data you backed up on iCloud or iTunes. The restore process takes a few minutes.
