What is covered by Apple Original Manufacturer Warranty?

The products of Apple come with one year warranty, which covers certain aspects of hardware and software. It implies that you can get your phone repaired from an authorized Apple Store during the period of warranty, if your phone incurs a hardware or software defect. In summary, it covers manufacturer defects but not accidental damages unless you purchase Apple Care+. Let us go deeper to take a look at the original manufacturer warranty in details.

What is covered under the warranty?

The obligations of Apple under the warranty are limited to the following terms:

Apple Computer Inc. or simply Apple is responsible for the defects in hardware regarding workmanship and materials for one year from the original date of retail purchase. You can get your iPhone repaired from an authorized Apple store in this period.

If the defect still persists, Apple will not charge anything for the repairs, replacement of refurbished or new parts. The company may exchange your Apple product with a new product or the one that is manufactured from serviceable or new parts. However, the new product you receive is functionally corresponding to your original product. If your Apple product is beyond repair or replacement, the company may refund the original purchase cost of your product.

The product or part that is replaced by the Apple Store assumes the outstanding warranty of your original Apple product or 90 days from the repair or replacement date, whichever period is longer for you.

Before you send your Apple product for repair or warranty service such as iPhone screen repair, you must keep a backup of your application software and data, system software, disable security passwords. It is your responsibility to reinstall such data, passwords, and software. The warranty service does not include data recovery and therefore, Apple does not assume any responsibility for data loss or damage in repair or transit.

What is not covered under the original manufacturer warranty?

The one year manufacturer warranty does not pertain to:

  • Consumable parts like battery, protective coating that is considered to diminish with time, unless there is a failure because of defective workmanship or material.

  • Cosmetic damage such as dents, scratches, broken ports or plastic, if these are caused by mishandling of the owner.

  • Damage caused because of an unauthorized third party product or component that does not adhere to the specifications of Apple.

  • Damage caused due to abuse, accident, misuse, earthquake, fire, and any other external cause.

  • An Apple product, which is serviced to alter its capability or functionality without written permission from Apple.

  • Defects occurred due to normal wear or due to normal ageing of an Apple product.

  • Any product whose serial number is defaced or removed.

  • If Apple is given information from public authorities about the theft of the product, or if the owner is not able to deactivate the Passcode, or other security measures that are meant to put off unauthorized access to an Apple product.

  • If the possessor of the phone is not able to prove that he/she is the authorized consumer of the product.

As mentioned by the points above, Apple doesn’t cover accidental damage (unless you have Apple Care+). Third party repair may be an option as it may offer lower cost option and added convenience like door to door iPhone repair done in your location. Fynd provides door to door iPhone repair for issues not covered by manufacturer warranty. If your iPhone damages are due to manufacturer issues, we recommend that you bring it back to Apple authorized service center for warranty claim.
